Congratulations on your courageous decision! Now, let's set you up for success. Please follow the steps below that apply to you. If you have problems, don't worry. We'll walk through them together during our onboarding call.

Step 1: Get Informed

IF YOUR CO-PARENT CONTACTS YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH YOUR PHONE:

Decide on a kid-friendly messaging app and set up an account for your child. That way, their other parent can stay in touch with them directly. It will no longer be an opportunity for them to get in some digs at you.

Set Up Forwarding to

(If you don't have an email service that allows forwarding of mail from a specific sender, consider creating a free Gmail account.)

Forward ONLY your co-parents' emails to us:

In Gmail, check for a message at the top of your inbox saying your filters are forwarding some of your email.

Arrange an emergency contact that your co-parent can call to get an urgent message to you.

Block your co-parent from your phone and social media accounts. Click here for instructions to block on an iPhone.

If you want your co-parent to know about this service, copy and paste this message into an email. If not, use this one. Personalize the message with names, emergency contact information, and how they can message your kids, if applicable. Then send it to your co-parent and celebrate. It all gets better from here.

Forward to us at filter@ceasefirecommunication.ca a copy of any message from your correspondent that you would like help with. Or, if you'd rather, draft a response and forward that, along with the original email, for our feedback before you hit reply. We'll review it between 9-5, M-F. Type URGENT in the subject line for priority treatment.
